Perhaps it's just my novelty and fascination with the 21:9 format, but I just couldn't jive with the Dell's color calibration, and much prefer Samsungs out-of-the-box (even though I know the Dells are factory calibrated). I definitely prefer it much more over both the Samsung S27D850T and the Dell U2715H that I've had. the Samsung S29E790C is an amazing monitor. But I think it's worth it, to be able to watch 21:9 movies in complete full-screen, without the black bars. The only bad thing is, the Any-DVD software isn't freeware - a 2-year license costs nearly $100. Hope this helps for anyone using a 21:9 screen, in the future!

The feature to use in this situation is the 'crop' feature. Note I did NOT use the 'zoom' feature in VLC. Go to Video -> Crop -> 2.39:1, which will crop out all the four black bars Download Any-DVD HD from Slysoft, which allows you to watch Blu-ray discs from any media playerģ.
